Our Purpose
Our purpose is to inspire self-discovery through sport, fitness, wellness and adventure.
Our Mission

We are dedicated to inspiring self-discovery through sport, fitness, wellness and adventure, providing growth opportunities and educational experiences that enrich the life-long learning process.
Through our programs and facilities, which are recreational, educational and sporting in nature, we promote and develop healthy life-style choices. Benefits of participation include the application of leadership, decision-making, problem solving, conflict management, communication and social skills. We strive to provide the safest, cleanest, highest quality, most dependable and enjoyable services.
Our Dedication to Inclusivity
CRI commits to fostering an environment that values inclusion, belonging and respect. We strive to learn, acknowledge and embrace our differences to promote a welcoming community with diverse cultures, backgrounds and life experiences.
Our Role
From our roots at W.S. Hanner Fieldhouse to a multiplex expansion across campuses, Campus Recreation and Intramurals remains a cornerstone of the eagle experience at Georgia Southern University. Both men and women teams have played intramural sports at Georgia Southern since the 1930s. In the early 1980s, the Intramural Department officially expanded into CRI. Every year, we are among the first to greet new students and their families when they arrive for orientation, and we see those same students off at graduation.
Our facilities and parks cater to all levels of comfort and skill with programming as diverse as our community. We establish a unique relationship of trust and fun with our guests. With our professional, supportive and accommodating guidance, our patrons find emotional relief and personal growth through our offerings, making CRI a key ingredient for successful graduates.
Equally important are the students who make up CRI. The student staff at CRI is one of the largest student workforces at Georgia Southern with an unmatched level of dedication and professionalism. Every year, we help hundreds of students develop leadership skills and create solid foundations for their careers beyond graduation. Their excellent and accessible service to their classmates is essential to inspiring success and self-discovery across Georgia Southern.
